Since opening our doors in the summer of 2000 to paying guests we have endeavoured to offer service and accommodation to the highest possible standards. As part of this policy Helen uses our own produce from the farm and orchard whenever possible.

The adjudicators were particularly impressed with our house and its location, and our commitment to providing a quality product.

Below are the comments of the adjudicators, written by Jim O'Brien of the Farmers Journal:

" Helen and Christopher Kelly bought Lough Bishop House on 90 acres near
Collinstown in Co. Westmeath in 1992. The house was derelict and the farm
wasn't much better. The Kellys spent nine years renovating the property and
intended opening as a B&B. Given that they are quite a distance from the
nearest village, they decided to offer an evening meal. The fine old-style
farmhouse is renovated with impeccable attention to detail. There are three
ensuite guest bedrooms all along with spacious and comfortable dining and
lounge areas. The Kellys use home produced food for their guests and like to
dine with the guests. They have a healthy weekend business at the moment
with their best business happening in June and July. They estimate that it
will take six years to build up the business."
